Education & Training

Foundation of Excellence

Dr. Workman's journey began in Wheaton, Illinois, where he grew up in the Chicago suburbs with a passion for both science and artistry. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry in 2005, graduating from one of the nation's most respected dental programs.

For Dr. Workman, graduation marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to excellence. His pursuit of mastery has led him to train with the most prestigious institutions in dentistry:

  • The Dawson Center for the Advancement of Dentistry — Elite training in occlusion and comprehensive care, mastering the intricate relationships between teeth, muscles, and jaw joints
  • The Kois Center — World-class education covering every aspect of restorative dentistry, from implant placement to functional analysis and smile design
  • Magne Education, Beverly Hills — Currently completing an exclusive 5-course continuum in Biomimetic Dentistry, learning the most advanced techniques for preserving natural tooth structure
  • Advanced Cosmetic Training — Extensive coursework with world-renowned ceramists and cosmetic dentistry masters, perfecting the art of natural-looking restorations
  • Specialized Certifications — Including Invisalign clear aligner therapy, implant restoration, and minimally invasive techniques

With hundreds of hours of continuing education spanning three countries, Dr. Workman brings a global perspective and cutting-edge expertise to every patient's care. This dedication to continuous learning ensures that SmileArt Utah patients receive the most advanced, conservative, and effective treatments available in modern dentistry.

A Global Journey to Excellence

Three Countries, One Vision

After dental school, Dr. Workman established his first practice in Broomfield, Colorado, where he spent 10 years building a thriving practice and discovering his true passion — the transformative power of cosmetic dentistry.

His pursuit of excellence then took him across the Pacific to New Zealand's North Island, where he practiced for two and a half years. This international experience exposed him to innovative techniques and reinforced his belief that exceptional dentistry transcends borders.

In 2024, Dr. Workman brought his global expertise to St. George, Utah, founding SmileArt with a revolutionary vision: a practice dedicated to doing one thing extraordinarily well — creating beautiful, natural smiles through artistic cosmetic dentistry.

The SmileArt Philosophy

One Patient at a Time

In an era of corporate dentistry and rushed appointments, Dr. Workman made a bold choice: treat only one patient at a time. This boutique approach means:

  • No double-booking or rushing between rooms
  • Complete focus on your comfort and care
  • Time to perfect every detail
  • Unhurried consultations where every question matters

Artistry Meets Science

Dr. Workman approaches each smile as a unique work of art. His philosophy combines:

  • Conservative techniques that preserve natural tooth structure
  • Biomimetic principles that mimic nature's design
  • Custom aesthetics tailored to your facial features
  • Long-term thinking for results that age beautifully

Uncompromising Standards

Every procedure at SmileArt follows Dr. Workman's exacting protocols:

  • Rubber dam isolation on every restoration for optimal bonding
  • Partnership with master ceramists from world-class laboratories
  • Evidence-based techniques refined over 20+ years
  • Premium materials selected for longevity and aesthetics

What Sets
Dr. Workman Apart

The Artist's Eye

"Dentistry is both a science and an art. The science ensures your smile is healthy and functional. The art ensures it's beautiful and uniquely yours. You need both for a truly exceptional result." — Dr. Taylor Workman

His artistic approach means understanding:

  • How light reflects off tooth surfaces
  • The subtle variations in natural tooth color
  • The harmony between your smile and facial features
  • The importance of proportion and symmetry

Bilingual Excellence

Dr. Workman's fluency in both English and Spanish ensures clear communication and comfort for all patients, reflecting his commitment to serving Southern Utah's diverse community with excellence.

Continuous Innovation

Despite two decades of experience, Dr. Workman maintains a student's mindset:

  • Regular attendance at advanced cosmetic courses
  • Investment in cutting-edge technology
  • Collaboration with global dental innovators
  • Refinement of techniques based on latest research

Beyond the Office

Family Man

Dr. Workman and his wife Livia have built their life in Southern Utah with their five children. As a father, he understands the importance of confidence at every life stage — from teenage years through professional life and beyond. This personal perspective infuses his practice with empathy and understanding.

Outdoor Enthusiast

Living in St. George provides the perfect backdrop for Dr. Workman's love of the outdoors. When not creating smiles, you'll find him:

  • Hiking Southern Utah's stunning red rock trails
  • Rock climbing in Snow Canyon
  • Camping with his family under desert stars
  • Exploring the natural beauty that makes this region special

Dr. Workman's dedication to excellence extends far beyond the dental office. He recently completed the Grand Traverse — one of North America's most famous and challenging mountaineering traverses. This grueling 3-day expedition required 12 hours of technical climbing each day across 10 summits in Colorado's Elk Mountains. The same precision, endurance, and attention to detail required to safely navigate exposed ridgelines at 14,000 feet are qualities he brings to every dental procedure.

His appreciation for nature's artistry — from the striations in sandstone to the perfect symmetry of desert flowers, to the dramatic knife-edge ridges of the Rockies — inspires his approach to creating naturally beautiful smiles. Whether conquering challenging peaks or crafting the perfect veneer, Dr. Workman believes that true mastery comes from respecting both the journey and the destination.
