Here is what to expect, start to finish.
Under the enamel is soft tissue called the pulp. It runs down through narrow canals inside each root.
When deep decay or a crack lets bacteria reach the pulp, it can become infected and painful.
We numb the area first. You will feel pressure, but you should not feel pain.
Through a small opening, we remove the infected pulp, then clean and shape each canal.
The canals are filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha, and the opening is sealed.
Most back teeth get a crown afterward to keep the treated tooth strong.
Your tooth may feel tender for a few days. Avoid chewing hard foods on it until it is fully restored.
Your dental team is happy to walk you through every step before, during, and after your visit.
