What the video covers

  1. Here's what to expect when you have your wisdom teeth removed.
  2. Wisdom teeth are the third molars, way in the back. They're the last teeth to come in, usually between the ages of seventeen and twenty-five.
  3. Often, there isn't enough room for them. They can come in tilted or stay trapped under the gums, which can lead to pain, infection, or damage to the teeth next to them.
  4. First, we'll take x-rays to see exactly how your wisdom teeth are positioned, and whether they should come out.
  5. On the day of treatment, we'll numb the area so you stay comfortable. Sedation may also be an option to help you relax.
  6. The tooth is then carefully removed. Sometimes it comes out in small sections, and the area may get a few stitches.
  7. For the first few days, bite gently on gauze, use ice to keep swelling down, and stick to soft foods. Skip straws and smoking, so the area can heal.
  8. Most people feel better within a few days. We'll check in to make sure everything is healing well.
  9. If you have any questions along the way, just ask. Your dental team is always happy to help.
