What the video covers
- Here's what to expect when you get a dental crown.
- A crown is a custom cap for a tooth that's cracked, worn down, or weakened by a large filling. It protects the tooth, so it can keep doing its job.
- First, we'll numb the area so you stay comfortable. You may feel some pressure, but you shouldn't feel any pain.
- Next, we gently reshape the tooth, removing a thin layer so the crown has room to fit.
- Then we take a quick digital scan, or an impression, to capture the exact shape of your tooth and your bite.
- While your permanent crown is being made, a temporary crown keeps the tooth protected. Some offices can even make your crown the same day.
- When your new crown is ready, we check the fit, your bite, and the color, then bond it securely in place.
- From there, just care for it like any other tooth. Brush twice a day, floss daily, and keep up with your regular checkups.
- If you have any questions along the way, just ask. Your dental team is always happy to help.
